Antique Equestrian Knight Brooch

Estimated Era: c. 1910s–1930s Material: Unmarked silver-tone base metal, believed to be pewter or period pot metal Clasp: Original old-style “C” clasp A striking piece of early 20th-century equestrian jewellery, this antique figural brooch captures the romance and grandeur of a bygone era. Depicting a mounted medieval knight in a plumed helmet, the piece has a wonderfully aristocratic presence — reminiscent of royal processions, historic cavalry and the ceremonial elegance long associated with the horse. The casting retains beautiful period detail throughout, while the naturally aged silver-tone finish has developed a rich antique patina that gives the piece exceptional character. Rather than appearing overly polished or restored, it carries the unmistakable charm of an object that has already lived a story. To the reverse is an original-style simple C-clasp fastening, a construction commonly associated with antique and early vintage jewellery. The piece is unmarked and carries no precious-metal hallmark, consistent with decorative costume and souvenir jewellery produced during this period. Condition: Presented in good antique condition, with a beautiful naturally aged patina appropriate to its age. The sculpted design remains intact with no obvious major breaks or heavy damage. The original pin stem and C-clasp are present and functional. A wonderfully distinctive collector’s piece for the equestrian enthusiast — and a small fragment of old-world horse history deserving of a place in a beautiful collection.
